Annoying questions for a Tuesday night

If the road to hell is paved with good intentions, then is the road to heaven therefore paved with bad intentions?

What kind of person are you really -- if one's intentions (good or bad) are thwarted? Is the paramedic who can't save a life no longer a hero? Is the bank robber who gets in a car wreck on the way to the bank still a criminal?

bYes, not necessarily, no, yes.

Deep, deep thoughts. :)

i agree, yes to the first one, because if you end up in hell i have to assume the good intentions went bad, and thus the bad intentions ended up good.

K, here's my decent answer.

To say that the road to heaven is paved with bad intentions simply because the saying goes that the road to hell is paved with bad intentions is simply an expression of ignorance for the meaning of the phrase. To deal in absolutes is dangerous. The road to hell is paved with good intentions because people do stupid and wicked things with so-called "good intentions".

As for a person who's intentions are interrupted, or "twarted", intentions are still intentions. A paramedic did everything he could to save a life, but circumstances don't always allow his intentions to come to fruition. A criminal who isn't able to commit his crime is still a criminal at heart. It is a person's heart and mind that cause their actions.

Sufficiently satisfactory answer? :)
