I've been pre-approved for a mortgage loan (thanks, Ryan's dad), and I've started to talk to a friend-recommended realtor. I'm going to start looking at properties. It's pretty exciting (!), though I don't know how long it will be before I find something I like. Any of you more experienced people have advice for a first-time home buyer? (Troy, I wish you were here to be my guide!)

that's totally cool! you should write all about it so that the rest of us not so ready to buy a house peoples can learn from your experiences.
Whatever you do, buy waaaaay under what you are qualified for. If you qualify for a $500,000 house, don't get a $500,000 house. Get a $350, 000 or $400,000 one. There's nothing worse than being a slave to the mortgage!
