Refreshing to listen to Mark Doty at the Alumni Center last night. Refreshing, for one, to get my mind off house-purchasing worries. And invigorating, too, for a much-published, award-winning poet show us "how it's done." His lines were stunning. He seemed to be very down-to-earth, which I always appreciate. Gretchen and I both bought books, which he signed. It's interesting to get his take on Logan and the night, as found in his blog: http://markdoty.blogspot.com/
After the reading, G and I hit the USU Printmaker's Guild sale. I love to see student work, and I'm inspired to buy it - as the strange wildlife print dad bought at San Diego State in the 70s is one of my most treasured possessions (and mom always hated it). I came away with a surreal print of personified logs (wood logs, yes,) swimming underwater. It'll look great framed in black. It was fun, too, to shake hands with the oily, scruffy, Vernal-bred artist.

shucks. We didn't find out about Doty until Tuesday and couldn't come up. I'm glad it was good though
you are far cooler than I could ever hope to be - which is why I have no clue who Doty is. Glad you and G had fun though!
Shouldn't that say Vernal - inbred?
:)
ooh...poor Vernal folk - lots of Ry's family is from there.
Most of the Vernal folks I have met are very nice, but very strange . . . Ry's family may be the exception.
