New wierd thing I like

I've had sushi three times in the last two months. The first time I was fairly dragged there and sort of choked it down. The second time I decided to forget what I was eating and focus on flavor. The third trip was my request, as I was totally hankering for it. What makes it so addictive (and it does truly feel like an addiction) -- the nuclear wasabi? the biting gari? the artistry? the careful paring of texture and flavor?

I'm not worried about the raw fish thing, because I figure it's safer to eat at a sushi place than some burger joint with some pimply teenager dusting off a patty just dropped on the floor. If someone gets sick at a sushi restaurant, that's the end of that restaurant. Plus, sushi chefs go through years of training.

Worthy of note is that Elicia opted to join us for the most recent trip. She did really well, being open and willing. She didn't even seem to dislike it too much. Hey, if she's going to be a chef, she has to sample all gastronomy, right!?

Yikes & Yuck. I only like fish one way - from a frozen package, breaded, in stick form, and slathered with tartar sauce. =) I'm a wimp. More power to you sis!

The Wasabi is to cover the fishy fish flavor. It burns your mouth so bad, you forget that you are eating yucky raw fish.

They probably put something else in there for the addiction factor. Otherwise I don't think anyone would go back a second time!

EWWWWWW!

Well, if you'll eat that you'll probably enjoy some Rocky Mountain Oysters too.
